Van Gough Art project

Description: This art project was based around Vincent Van Gough's a Starry Night piece of art. We were able to use tissue paper to create a background and then create a corresponding landscape. After the image was completed we were instructed to add in any dots more movement to the image to create a representation of Van Gough's artwork. At the end of the lesson, we were instructed to label a scrap sheet of paper that had listed three interesting facts about the artist and the painting that we got to replicate on our own.

Extension Activity: I would open the lesson by teaching the students about Van Gough and how some of his most famous artwork looked. After we had gone through the lesson students will then be able to replicate the artwork Starry Night. I will have students pick a landscape along with a color scheme of warm or cool colors. Students will also be working with oil pastels to construct this piece. We will draw/ sketch out the landscape and students will have to replicate the movement that VVG's pieces of artwork show within the sky portion of the piece. This lesson will be geared to the 4-8th grade(s) because of the complex planning and detail.
