Peer Lesson- Paper crafts

Description: For this activity, we were able to create a paper weaved rug. The teachers had brought in many different outside resources such as woven rugs from the colonies, African woven rugs, and Navajo woven rugs. We were able to pick two colors to work with along with another paper to help with the weaving and hold our other pieces in place. We had to alternate every other color to every other row to get the weaving effect. After we were done weaving we added a fringed side to make the rug look more rugged.

Extension Activity: For this activity depending on the grade level I would have students make a wavier primary background to use. Students will then have to put a pattern on their colored pieces to create a rug that is more in-depth. I would also consider doing this project as a craft and using yarn to create a rug also.
