Description: For this painting project we were basing it on an artist who had lived in the Yukon and made very bright and vibrant colored landscapes. We were instructed to create some hills and then a sun and draw lines coming out from that. The closer to the sun the lighter the colors were supposed to be and the further from the sun the darker they were supposed to be. We also had created the sun on up as warm colors while the sundown/hills were cool colors.
Extension Activity: I think that this activity would be great to integrate a subject like social studies into, especially because of where the artist had lived. We would research the geography of the Yukon and then have the students come up with their own landscape with the Yukon's geography influencing the landscape chosen.
